Both the CR-V and Outback offer spacious cabins that are designed to carry five passengers and some cargo in back. While the respective front rows have some similarities, it’s the second row that showcases the biggest differences in passenger space. Second-row passengers have more room in the CR-V with 39.2 inches of headroom and 40.4 inches of legroom, while Outback rear passengers get 38.9 inches of headroom and 38.1 inches of legroom.

Another major difference with the respective crossover dimensions is the cargo areas. The Honda CR-V includes 39.2 cubic feet behind the second row while the Subaru Outback features 35.5 cubic feet. Of course, when you fold the second rows down, it can expand the overall cargo areas. When the second row is folded, the CR-V includes 75.8 cubic feet while the Outback falls a little short with 73.3 cubic feet.
